Deleting your account removes your SipherMail data. Read this page before you start.
Before you delete#
- Download what you want to keep. On the web, use Settings > Profile > Request Data Export. It covers your profile, contacts, labels, folders, rules, templates and signatures, not your mail. To keep your mail, copy it with an app over IMAP. See Third-party mail apps.
- If you pay through the App Store or Google Play, cancel that subscription in the store first.
- Account deletion needs your password. If you signed up with a social sign-in and have no password, use Forgot password to set one first.
Start deletion in the mobile app#
- Open Settings > Privacy.
- Scroll to Danger Zone and enter your password.
- Tap Delete Account, then confirm with Delete My Account.
Your account is deactivated straight away and scheduled for permanent deletion after a 30-day grace period. SipherMail sends a confirmation email with a Cancel Deletion link.
Cancel a pending deletion#
During the grace period you can change your mind:
- Use the Cancel Deletion link in the confirmation email, or
- Open the same Danger Zone in the app and tap Cancel Deletion & Keep My Account.
On the web#
Settings > Profile ends with a Danger Zone and a Delete Account button. If you cannot complete deletion there, use the mobile app or open a ticket from Settings > Support.
What gets deleted#
The account profile, mailbox contents, contacts, AI history and memories, encryption keys, notification settings and trusted devices are removed. Some billing records may be kept where the law requires it. The full wording is in the privacy policy.
