Memories

What Sipher AI remembers, how to see and delete it, and which settings stop it from remembering.

Memories are short notes Sipher AI keeps so you do not have to repeat yourself. They are used in chat.

What it remembers#

The Memories page groups notes by type:

  • Personal facts
  • Communication style
  • Contact insights
  • Topics and projects
  • Preferences
  • Recurring tasks
  • Writing habits

Each note shows where it came from. You told me is something you said or edited. Learned was inferred from your chats. Observed was detected from patterns in your sent mail and fades over time.

Open and manage memories (web)#

  1. Go to Settings > AI & Smart Features > Memories.
  2. Use the search box to find a note.
  3. Edit a note with the pencil, or delete it with the X.
  4. Use Delete all to wipe everything. You confirm first, and it cannot be undone.
  5. Use the switch at the top to turn memory on or off. When it is off, Sipher AI neither reads nor saves memories.

The same page has personality settings: how to address you, response style, tone and custom instructions. Two switches control learning: Learn from my emails and Learn from my Sipher AI conversations. Refresh from emails rebuilds notes from your recent sent mail.

In the chat#

Under a reply you may see Using N memories. Select it to open only the notes used for that answer. When Sipher AI saves something new you see Memory saved with Undo.

What stops memory#

  • Privacy mode blocks all memory use.
  • Learning from your mail needs the allow inbox read preference to be on.
  • Turning memory off stops reading and saving.

Memories are stored on SipherMail’s own servers. The mobile apps are getting the same controls.
