SipherMail limits how much mail an account can send. The limits protect your domain’s reputation and keep the service free of spam. They apply to individuals and to organisation members.
What is limited#
Each plan sets limits for:
- messages per minute,
- messages per hour,
- messages per day,
- recipients on a single message.
Higher plans get higher limits. Compare them on the pricing page.
See your limits#
When sending is paused or restricted, SipherMail notifies you, and the notification opens the Sending Limits page. It shows:
- today’s sent count against your daily limit,
- today’s bounces and spam complaints,
- the limits for your plan,
- whether sending is active, paused or blocked.
If a send is refused, the app shows the reason.
What happens on repeated violations#
Going over a limit is treated as a violation. Repeated violations escalate in steps:
- Throttle. Sending pauses for a short time. The page shows when it resumes.
- Flag. The account is flagged for review.
- Block. Sending is stopped. You are notified and can ask for a review with a support ticket.
Hard bounces and spam complaints count as well, so keep your recipient lists clean.
Enterprise accounts are never blocked automatically. They can still be throttled and flagged for manual review.
If you need more room#
Upgrade your plan on Settings > Billing & Plan, or ask your organisation admin. See Billing and plans. If you are blocked, open a ticket from Settings > Support.
