Quick search on the web#
Type in the Search messages... box at the top of the window and press Enter. Press /, or Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on a Mac), to jump to the box from anywhere in the mail view.
When the box is empty and focused, your Recent searches appear below it. Select one to run it again, or select Clear to remove the list. The list is stored in your browser only.

Search in the apps#
The iPhone and Android apps have a search screen. Before you type it lists your recent searches, and it offers quick filters for the results.
