Open Tasks or Notes in the sidebar. Both are on the web. The iPhone and Android apps do not show them yet. Only you can open your tasks and notes. They are stored on SipherMail’s servers and are not end-to-end encrypted.
Add a task#
Type in the box at the top of Tasks and press Enter. Dates and times in the text are read in your browser’s time zone.

A bare weekday means the next one after today. "This friday" can be today. "Next friday" is the Friday of next week. If nothing is recognised, the whole text becomes the title. Dates like 5/11 are left alone because they are ambiguous.
To add a task from mail, choose Add to tasks in a conversation’s AI summary, or next to an action item in AI Insights. The due date is filled in when the email has a deadline. The task keeps the subject and a link back, not the message.
Views, lists and subtasks#
- Today, Upcoming, Overdue, All and Done filter by due date. Create your own lists with + next to Lists. Deleting a list moves its tasks to My tasks.
- Open a task to set notes, priority, a due date and time zone, and subtasks (one level).
Repeat and reminders#
A task can repeat daily, weekly or monthly, every N days, weeks or months, and end on a date or after a number of times. Completing a repeating task moves it to its next date instead of closing it.
A reminder fires at the due time or a set time before it. All-day tasks remind at 9:00 AM on the due day. Reminders arrive as push notifications and in your notification list. They follow your follow-up notification setting and quiet hours: see Notifications.
Notes#
Notes have rich text, colours, tags, pinning and search, and save as you type. If a note changed on another device, you choose which version to keep. Make task from line turns the selected line into a task.
Sipher AI does not read, index or summarise notes, and no AI feature is connected to them.
Trash and shortcuts#
Deleted tasks and notes stay in Trash for 30 days. On these pages n is new, j and k move, x completes a task, Enter opens, # deletes and / searches. See Keyboard shortcuts.
