When a member loses a phone or leaves, an admin can end their sessions and ask their phones to clear SipherMail’s local cache. This needs the User admin role or higher. See Roles and permissions.
Open the devices window#
- Open Org Panel > Team members.
- Open the menu at the end of the member’s row and choose Devices and sign-out.
The window shows four counts: Signed-in devices, Mobile devices, Wipe waiting and Wipe received.
You cannot use it on yourself or on the owner. A member with an admin role can be changed only by an owner or admin. The account must be on one of your organisation’s domains or have an organisation mailbox. Otherwise the window says its devices cannot be managed here. You can take up to 30 device actions an hour.
Sign out all devices#
Choose Sign out all devices. This ends every web and app session and turns off push notifications for that member. Each device is signed out the next time it contacts SipherMail.
It does not change the member’s password or remove their app passwords. It does not clear any data already on a device.
Request mobile cache wipe#
Choose Request mobile cache wipe. SipherMail flags every iPhone, iPad and Android session that is signed in at that moment. The next time the app refreshes its session while online, it clears its cached mail and other local data and signs out.
Be exact about what this does:
- It removes only SipherMail’s own data inside the app. It does not erase other apps or the rest of the phone.
- A phone that stays offline never receives the request. Until it connects, the cached mail stays on it.
- It does not reach browsers, or mail apps that connect with an app password.
- It affects only phones signed in when you request it. A phone that signs in later is not wiped.
- Wipe received means SipherMail passed the request to the device. The app does not send a confirmation back.
Do both in the right order#
Signing out ends a session, and an ended session can no longer receive a wipe. If you need both, request the wipe first. Wait until Wipe received counts the phone, then choose Sign out all devices.
Both actions are recorded in the audit log with the admin who did them. See also Offboarding members and Sessions and devices.
