Folders hold mail in one place. A message is in one folder at a time, unlike a label, which you can add to many conversations.
System folders#
Settings > Folders lists the system folders first: Inbox, Sent, Drafts, Junk, Trash and Archive. They are marked Read-only. You cannot rename or delete them.
Create a folder#
- Open Settings > Folders.
- Select Create Folder.
- Enter a Folder Name.
- Optionally pick a Color Tag.
- Save.
New folders appear in the sidebar straight away.
Rename, recolour or delete#
Use the edit button beside a custom folder to change its name or Color Tag, then select Save Changes. Use the delete button to remove it. SipherMail asks Delete folder? first. Read that message before you confirm, because the server can decide what happens to the messages in the folder.
Put mail in a folder#
- Move a message with the Move to option in its menu.
- Write a filter rule with the Move to folder action so new mail goes there on arrival.
- Use plus addresses with a rule that moves each tag to its own folder.
On iPhone and Android#
Create and manage folders under Settings > Folders & Labels.
