SipherMail keeps a list of the senders that mail you in bulk, with the most mail first. Open Subscriptions in the sidebar, or Settings > Subscriptions.
Each row shows the sender, how many messages arrived in the last 90 days and how many are unread, and the category the sender is filed under. The tabs are Active, Unsubscribed, Kept and Blocked. New senders appear in Active as bulk mail arrives.
What each button does#
| Button | Result |
|---|---|
| To Newsletters | Future mail from this sender goes to the Newsletters chip. See Smart categories. Shown only when the sender is not already there. |
| Keep | Moves the sender to the Kept tab so you know you chose to stay subscribed. |
| Unsubscribe | Asks the sender to stop. See below. |
| Block | Moves the sender to Blocked and blocks the address. Future mail is discarded. See Block and allow senders. |
How Unsubscribe works#
It depends on what the sender put in the message.
- One-click unsubscribe: SipherMail sends the request for you.
- Unsubscribe email address: SipherMail sends the unsubscribe email for you.
- Web page only: the sender’s unsubscribe page opens in a new tab. Finish it there.
- No unsubscribe link: SipherMail marks the sender as unsubscribed in this list only. Nothing is sent, and mail may keep coming.
The sender decides whether to honour the request. If mail continues, use Block instead.
Undo#
On the Unsubscribed tab, Re-subscribe moves a sender back to Active. On the Blocked tab, Unblock does the same. Neither signs you up again with the sender. They only change this list.
In a message#
When a message has an unsubscribe option, a banner with an Unsubscribe button appears in it. It does the same as the button in the list, and the sender is recorded as unsubscribed there.
The iPhone and Android apps include a Subscriptions screen as well.
